Nottingham

9th August was another free day and a trip to Nottingham was organised for us to visit Gunn & Moore (G & M) cricket bat manufacturers and Trent Bridge cricket ground.
The company was founded in 1885 by William Gunn and Thomas James Moore. The cricket bats are made entirely in England.
We were given a presentation on the history of the company.
A selection of early cricket bats.
Robin testing one of the early bats.
We were then taken on a tour of the factory where the art of making a cricket bat was explained.
Some of the players purchased a cricket bat to add to their collection.
The following video on You Tube - Inside the Gunn & Moore factory - shows the process of making a cricket bat.
We then had lunch at the Larwood & Voce Pub & Kitchen at the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground. The restaurant is named after cricketers Harold Larwood and Bill Voce.
After lunch we had a tour of the Trent Bridge cricket ground.

Entrance to the Pavilion and Long Room
The walls of the Long Room are lined with photographs, honour boards and memorabilia relating to the history of the Nottinghamshire Cricket Club established in 1835 and the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground - the third oldest test match venue established in 1838.
The Long Room provides a comfortable space for members of the club to view the game of cricket.
We were also shown the players and visitors rooms as well as having a closer look at the ground.
An abundance of flowers add colour to the buildings and ground.
We thoroughly enjoyed our cricket tour of Nottingham.
