Back on the road again - this time heading south with the final destination for the day, the Isle of Skye.
Wind farms are a familiar site in this region.
as the bus drove through often rugged country.
And yes, the weather was cold and windy and wet, but there was a rainbow.
There was great excitement when two deer appeared on the left side of the bus. They watched the bus for a few moments and then bounded away.
Due to the frequent rain water was flowing freely in streams and waterfalls.
The greenness of much of the countryside is an unusual sight for those of us who live in Australia.
But there is also the contrast of the starkness of the mountains and hills, the brown and mauve of the grasses and generally a treeless landscape.
We were never far from the sea or from lochs as the bus proceeded south.
We stopped for the lunch break at Ullapool on the shores of Loch Broom.
One of the things we noticed in France and in the UK was the size of the seagulls compared to those back home.
Boats of all sizes prepare for fishing or tourist related activities.
The signs in this part of Scotland are written in Gaelic as well as English.
Always expect the unexpected.
Unfortunately we were not in town to watch this event.
After lunch we continued our journey to the Isle of Skye.
