Over 70s National Cricket Championships - Albury Wodonga - Albury streetscapes

We had plenty of opportunity to explore the streets of Albury during our stay.
Wandering around Albury we came across a variety of buildings showing different styles of architecture and part of Albury's history.
There were streetscapes that are replicated in many country towns and cities.
There were also at least two modern shopping arcades including Myer Centrepoint.
Walking in one of these arcades you could be in a shopping centre anywhere in Australia.

The Public House in Dean Street was also ready for Christmas.
The former Court House building built in 1860 is one of the older buildings.
The building of St Matthew's Church dates back to 1857 with additions made to the original structure in 1876. After a fire in 1991 destroyed much of the building it was rebuilt in the original Gothic style.
The former Colonial Mutual Life building on the corner of Dean and Olive streets was completed in 1925.
The T &  G building is another impressive building in Dean Street. Construction of the building began in 1935 and was completed in 1940.
Another bank building built in the 1930s on the corner of Dean and Kiewa streets. The Australian Joint Stock Bank was originally built on this site in 1877 and in 1921 became a branch of  the Comercial Banking Company of Sydney. The original building was demolished in 1936.
The Globe building on the corner of Dean and Kiewa streets was rebuilt in the mid 1930s. It was originally the Globe Hotel, an impressive  two story building built in 1860.
Another impressive building is the Post Office building on corner of Dean Street and Kiewa Street was built in 1875. It replaced a two story granite building erected on the site in 1861 for the Telegraph Office.
This building on the corner of Smollett Street and Townsend Street is the Proprietor. Constucted possibly in the late 1880s it was originally a saddlers then later became a butchers with the meat stored in a large cellar. Like many buildings it has been renovated over the years and is now houses a cafe.
