The Murray Art Museum Albury is located at 546 Dean Street. Unfortunately they were in the process of changing a number of exhibitions when we visited but we did view an interesting collection of art work in one of the downstairs galleries.
The Albury Library Museum at 540 Kiewa street contains a museum providing information about the history of the area as well as a modern public library in the one complex. This building opened in 2007.
One morning we decided to explore the Albury Botanic Gardens located at the end of Dean Street near the river.
The gardens were established in 1877 and are a pleasant place to visit.
This Queensland Kauri Pine was planted in the gardens in 1910.
A vegetable garden is planted near the Children's Garden / playground.
A variety of trees are to be found in the gardens.
There are, of course many garden beds throughout the gardens.
It was in these gardens that we located the monument to the tree with an inscription carved by Hamilton Hume when he and William Hovell were in the area in November 1924.
A number of monuments relating to World War I and subsequent wars can be found when exploring the city.
This memorial behind St Matthew's Church names men from the district associated with the church who died during the First World War.
A similar monument is in front of St David's Church.
