Nuremberg

Sunday 17 July
Cruised through the Main-Danube Canal in the morning passing the highest point of the lock system. Early lunch, then from Roth we went by bus to explore old Nuremberg.
Unfortunately it was cold and drizzled all the time that we were there but it was interesting to see this medieval townscape that had been rebuilt after the damage caused by bombs during World War II.
We spent time looking at the buildings in the Imperial Castle
and later visited St Sebaldus Church.
Another major church is the Church of St Lawrence.
Our Lady's Church is in the main Market Square, the site of the annual Christmas Market.
The Beautiful Fountain is a major feature of the main Market Square.
The Pegnitz River divides the city.
In the evening we watched a duo perform Bavarian music interspersed with a few other well known tunes such as When the Saints go marching in and Yellow rose of Texas.
